Nick Fortune
Who am I?
Born in Western Australia, I moved to the UK to attend Durham University. After my BSc I joined Price Waterhouse London, where I qualified, and then BPP London for 5 years teaching auditing and financial reporting for all levels of ICAEW, ACCA and CIMA exams.
I still had lots to learn, so I took an MBA at London Business School, financing my studies by delivering City financial training courses.
Post MBA I moved into investment banking and advisory and worked in London, Germany, Austria, and the Middle East. Since 2009, most of my work has been as a CFO in the Middle East and the US.
Returning to Australia in 2023 with 2 young children (yes, a late start!), I made the lifestyle choice to work closer to home and to revert to the role I was so happy in, and – as others tell me – good at.
What I can provide.
My job is to make your learning path as straightforward as possible. That’s a delicate art where I have a proven track record.
FCA (ICAEW), MBA (London Business School)
At BPP I introduced a ‘past exam question index’: identifying what was getting examined – and so where to focus. Other BPP subject revision notes copied this. Students loved it – they did not have to do that research themselves.
Extensive commercial and banking/advisory experience means I can add some fun/colour to my SBR training. That helps things ‘stick’, and makes learning a little more fun / real. And if you want real career advice, especially if you are looking at MBA at some point, just ask.
